Truth and tact is a tricky one.\u00a0 I\u2019m not a fan of telling everything I know.\u00a0 However, there are those amongst us who live for prying open Pandora\u2019s Box with a tire iron and will do whatever it takes to get at the juicy goods.\u00a0 This is where proper upbringing is at its most impressive.\u00a0 Phrases such as \u201cbless his heart,\u201d \u201cisn\u2019t that special,\u201d \u201cyou don\u2019t say,\u201d \u201cI don\u2019t really know him personally\u201d and \u201creally, I hadn\u2019t noticed\u201d come into play.\u00a0 And when I do want to tell what I know, I may need to open the war chest with \u201che\u2019s just popular,\u201d \u201che does tend to end up a tad over-served\u201d or \u201cwell, you know his whole family is that way (bless his heart).\u201d\u00a0 And with that, I promptly pull myself away to speak to someone across the room (I just pick anyone, it doesn\u2019t matter) or reach in my pocket to set off my phone in order to escape further interrogation.\u00a0 Let\u2019s face it.\u00a0 Some fools are not easily deterred\u2014or interred either, judging by their behavior.<\/p>\n
When in over my hear, I\u2019ve found in life that plastering a smile on my face and nodding is the only thing that keeps me from curling into the fetal position and sucking on a Sippy cup of vodka.\u00a0 I\u2019ve almost caught myself saying \u201cYes, I was just thinking the same thing,\u201d \u201cOh right, I thought that was the case\u201d or \u201cdid I agree to that?\u201d when truthfully I need someone to show up with those orange coned flashlights to pull my plane into the gate because I didn\u2019t even yet have my landing gear down.\u00a0 My personal favorite that I\u2019ve used so often the edges are frayed is \u201cOh!\u00a0 What?\u00a0 I thought I\u2019d already done that!\u201d\u00a0 The sad truth is I can\u2019t really recall if I did or didn\u2019t.\u00a0 It may have something to do with that vodka.<\/p>\n
Now before you get all high and mighty on me I must say unequivocally that I am not a proponent of lying or overly-stretching the truth.\u00a0 I merely practice the fine art of distraction.\u00a0 Some people just can\u2019t handle being disappointed\u2026and can\u2019t handle the truth either.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m not sure I\u2019m a great person, that I control others\u2019 chaos or even have a cure for bad conversation, but there are situations in which I know it\u2019s best not to react.\u00a0 Much less overact.\u00a0 I\u2019m not at the top of my game every day, but I\u2019m asked to make the day for others in my job.\u00a0 To do that, I simply try to be available, listen, and not embarrass them any more than they\u2019re already doing sometimes.\u00a0 Bless their hearts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
