{"id":1540,"date":"2017-03-26T04:42:01","date_gmt":"2017-03-26T04:42:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.amytaylor.com\/amytaylorcompanion\/?p=1540"},"modified":"2017-08-27T04:42:38","modified_gmt":"2017-08-27T04:42:38","slug":"toes-in-the-sand-head-in-the-clouds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amytaylor.com\/privatemodel\/toes-in-the-sand-head-in-the-clouds\/","title":{"rendered":"Toes in the Sand, Head in the Clouds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Why am I so captivated by the beach?\u00a0 Sure, you could give balmy beach answers, waxing warmly about sand and summer fun.\u00a0 Instead, I think of stories of my life, love and lessons learned at water\u2019s edge\u2026my life\u2019s path has literally been formed by sand castles.\u00a0 I\u2019ve spent a total of years with family on island beaches, and for me beaches have never been a place of much scrutiny.\u00a0 In fact, the opposite.\u00a0 On a beach, I feel relieved.\u00a0 Sure, you might say there\u2019s more to it, that sand has seeped deeper into my psyche.\u00a0 After all, it\u2019s pretty stealthy stuff.\u00a0 It can speak to success (\u201cI\u2019m off to my beach house\u201d), luxury (\u201cI\u2019d like a hotel room with a beach view\u201d), even intimacy (\u201cplease seat me at a table right on the beach\u201d).\u00a0 One could even argue that the beach makes us younger, more fearless.\u00a0 Go on, dive for that beach ball\u2026or better yet, have a drink, a book, a nap, a walk, a moonlit kiss.\u00a0 All such things are best experienced on the beach.\u00a0 Even what isn\u2019t better on a shoreline makes life more enjoyable.\u00a0 Take work:\u00a0 your laptop does not like sand, and that\u2019s the point.<\/p>\n<p>Fresh off the plane and home to relax, I step onto a beach, feeling the soft sand between my toes and I smile.\u00a0 The sensation has nothing to do with what I just wrote.\u00a0 Instead, the sand sparks a sensual reminder for me that I\u2019m no longer bound to anyone else\u2019s routine.\u00a0 I am standing on MY island, and my life\u2019s discoveries await only me.\u00a0 I know that the beach is more than it\u2019s shoreline, that often beach time is life\u2019s icing on a beautiful cake.\u00a0 No matter your stance on beaches, to me that\u2019s pretty sweet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Why am I so captivated by the beach?\u00a0 Sure, you could give balmy beach answers, waxing warmly about sand and summer fun.\u00a0 Instead, I think of stories of my life, love and lessons learned at water\u2019s edge\u2026my life\u2019s path has literally been formed by sand castles.\u00a0 I\u2019ve spent a total of years with family on  [&#8230;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1540","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
